We wanted to advise you of this new legislation to ensure that you are protected.

The following are the official guidelines put out by the Ministry of Transportation:

A child can start using a seatbelt alone once any one of the following criteria is met:

    • child turns eight years old
    • child weighs 80 lbs (36 kg)
    • child is 4’9” (145 cm) tall.

You may wish to check the website yourself at http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/

We have advised all parents/guardians of children under 8 of these guidelines and requested that they supply a booster seat for their children if necessary.

As a volunteer we ask you NOT to transport any child who requires a booster seat unless an appropriate seat is available. Failure to do so could result in a $90.00 fine, plus 2 demerit points. Please check with the parent/guardian of your little brother or sister prior to your next outing to ensure the legislation is complied with.
